About Us:

In response to requests, I have created this blog for frum doulas. Due to the limitations of this blog, I have created a new site :

This is a new venture. Over time, we might make changes to the settings. All suggestions welcome.

"Jewla" designation

Recently I was thinking about creating a designation to an already certified doula, not sure what to call it but Jewla is my working title. :) Basically we would offer additional certification in understanding the basic halachos of labor and the postpartum period, so the doula would be aware and respectful. Also an understanding of the Kosher kitchen. I am imagining mostly frum women participating in this, so it wouldn't be starting from scratch, but there might be someone Jewish but not as educated who lives in or near a vibrant Jewish community and wants to enhance her knowledge. I have a feeling this could be an asset to someone working with a particular population. Thoughts?

Hi! My name is Estie Ehrlich, and I'm also a volunteer doula together with Miriam W. in Miamo.  I'm also an RN and haven't done any private doula work, but would love to.

Hi, My name is Miriam Wasserlauf. I've been a doula for a little over two years now and I enjoy every second of it. I currently do most of my doula through the volunteer program in Maimonides. Recently, after the birth of my son, I have decided that I would like to continue doing doula work as a volunteer but would like to take it to the professional level as well.
I am avid reader and really enjoy the books by Penny Simkin and am currently in the middle of Inna May Gaskin's newest book. They provide not only beautiful birth stories but alot of solid information which I find helpful to use with my patients
Hope to be hearing from more doulas soon. I think this forum is a great place for doulas to share and exchange information and ideas.
Welcome, Jewish birth professionals and Frum Doulas!
